Born in West Virginia in 1951 but a resident of Tal Farlow''s hometown, Greensboro, North Carolina for most of his life, Greg has been part of the local jazz scene for quite some time. He is a consummate performer on the electric guitar as
well as the nylon-stringed classic guitar.
Although much of his repertoire consists of music by Gershwin or Cole Porter, Greg also enjoys exploring material by Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk and other bebop masters. A typical set of jazz by Greg would most likely include a few Brazilian standards by Antonio Carlos Jobim as well. In addition to being a deft improviser, Greg is also an accomplished composer. His self-produced record, Manhattan Date, included four originals and received four stars in Downbeat magazine.
A graduate of Berklee College of Music (''77), Greg not only performs frequently, but also teaches privately and at Greensboro College. He has been involved with the John Coltrane summer music camp in High Point, North Carolina since its inception and continues to foster young talented students.
